Travis Scott may very well be the young manifestation of everything Kanye West has become post-808s & Heartbreak. Scott’s music is passionate, raw, emotional and what he lacks in lyrical dexterity he more than makes up for in artistic vision.
Released on T.I.P’s Grand Hustle label, Scott’s debut album Rodeo has proven to be one of the better debuts in a very long time. It’s from this debut that one of the album’s standout songs, Piss on Your Grave (featuring Kanye West), shines through with all it’s angry and boisterous energy.
The Nabil-directed video finds Scott and West, draped in sackloth, literally and figuratively spitting into the faces of their oppressors, whether in the fashion and music industries. Also check out the low-key cameo by the rap god Mos Def.
Saying the video’s vibe is spooky is an understatement. Just in time for Halloween.
